Description
3-Amino-9-Ethylcarbazole (AEC) is a substrate for peroxidase and is a widely used chromogen for immunohistochemical staining and immunoblotting. In the presence of peroxidase enzyme, AEC produces a red end product that is soluble in alcohol and therefore must be used with an aqueous counterstain and mounting media.

Immunohistochemistry: Just before staining add one drop of AEC chromogen for every 1 mL of AEC buffer. Apply the AEC substrate reagent to the sections after incubation with horseradish peroxidase and washing is complete. Incubate sections with AEC reagent for 5-20 minutes or until the desired color intensity is obtained. Use the AEC substrate reagent within 20 minutes of mixing.
Warning:AEC buffer (component 51-7603KC) contains 7.99% methanol (w/w).
